What is Alpha?

We have teamed up with our church in Dalkeith to offer you the opportunity to join this year’s Alpha. Alpha is a series of weekly sessions where you can explore the Christian faith in an open-minded and welcoming enviroment.

There’s no cost and no pressure. Just lots of great conversation and space to think.

Each session includes food, a short talk and time of discussion where you can share your thoughts about what you’ve heard.

Whatever questions you’ve got, you can ask them at Alpha.

So why not give it a go and come along to St John’s and King’s Park Church, Dalkeith (opposite Morrisons) on Thursday 15th September 2022 at 7pm?

If you are interested, please let Sue (smckenzie@churchofscotland.org.uk) or Erika (epryde@churchofscotland.org.uk) know via email or get in touch with the SJKP office direct on sjkpdalkeith@gmail.com

Have you ever wondered what to do if you are a man, have a bit of time on your hands and need to get out the house?

Look no further! Our Newton Hutters group is similar to a Men’s Shed. We offer anyone in the community a safe place to meet, have a cuppa and slice of cake and chat to other men. We have lots of projects on the go which support the church hall environment and the local community so no matter what your skill or interest we will have something for you to help with.

We’d love you to come along and join us on a Wednesday from 1pm – 3pm at the church hall.

If you are expecting or have recently become a mum, we’d love to invite you to join us in the church hall on a Wednesday morning from10am – 12noon.

Give yourself the chance to meet other mums, get support and advice, or just the chance to drink a hot cuppa in peace as Mary and Sue are always on hand to help with the little ones or chat.

We regularly have visiting specialists who can provide taster sessions of other groups on offer e.g. Debutots, Sing & Sign, Sleep Consultants, Baby First Aid etc

Help us raise money by registering with the co-op membership scheme!

We are absolutely delighted to have been chosen to be one of this year’s, 2021-2022, charities supported by the Co-op Community Fund.

We are hoping to raise enough money to take a group of local youngsters and their families away for a weekend of fun and adventure at an outdoor activity camp, but we need your help!

In order to support us with this funding, please use your co-op membership card and register us as your chosen charity on the co-op’s website. After that, each time you shop and use your membership card, Newton Church hall is raising money!

You can use the website below to read more about our fundraising.

If you have any prayer requests for yourself or others you are very welcome to join us in person or you can email us in confidence at epryde@churchofscotland.org.uk or smckenzie@churchofscotland.org.uk. We also have a prayer post box in the entrance hall of the Church Hall where you can place your requests in confidence.

Our Oasis Cafe is open every Tuesday from 10am to 1pm in the church hall. Everyone is very welcome and we would love to see you there for some delicious scones and traybakes. During the winter months (September to Easter) we also have a pot of soup on the go from 11.30am. So come along and join us.
